Default Brand new stairs with shoddy workmanship

I inspected this home a few days ago and the first thing that stands out is the rear stair installation...
Overall shot...

Nice riser cuts...

Simply slice the siding to attach the decking, bang in a few nails to hold the siding in place and don't worry about flashing the connection area...

Simply place the stair support alongside the roof edge, and don't worry about the water entry at the shingle area...

Very nice support area. Simply bang the nails into the top of this roof, it won't leak....

Very secure stringer attachment...

Nice galvanized nails (rusting already)...
brand-new-stairs-shoddy-workmanship-stair_pos8.jpg

Simply place this main support post on a roof top....
brand-new-stairs-shoddy-workmanship-stair_pos9.jpg

Just face nail the old siding in place...

That's nothing.....My list on this install was so extensive, I had to finalize my report with "Recommend a licensed Carpenter evaluate and estimate repair costs for upgrading newly built stairs to today's code".

My Buyer's stated that a permit was pulled for this installation. I told them that I highly doubt that this was built to permit specifications.

Around here, just because a permit was pulled doesn't mean it was ever called for a final.

The cities backlog is ridiculous. That type of work is very common around here with contractors knowing it may never get inspected. It's really a sad situation. I guess we can blame our city government for that. Hopefully our new Mayor will turn things around. (bye bye Shirley!)

Unbelievable David, I guess I would have been a deal killer on that one too!
How can someone feel right in getting paid for something like that?

Easy...no conscience whatsoever. I'm tired of seeing new construction slack jobs. If it's not right, I'll be all over it.

That is what I had figured David, but just don't like to accept it.
And I am the same way, to see something like this on a fairly new build tears me apart.
