Default Do it yourself Chimney

Sometimes during a Home Inspection I figure... "they read a book and gave it a shot". This one I'm not too sure. This beauty sits atop a wood burning fireplace with Heat Exchanger (cracked BTW).

The buyer thought it was pretty neat... I dis-agreed

A clay tile liner would have been nice

Is it block all the way to the fire box?

there were two sections of liner directly above the firebox (maybe they ran out?)... they built up with brick/block on the interior and left it as-is through the attic. Nice stuff.

They probably got a "deal" from a friend of the family
