You forgot the last image where they cut out the bottom section of the shingle to prevent water on the lower portion of the flashing.

Well, that is what I would do also.
Keep in mind that due to the variation of the shingle layout, the exposed portion of the boot flashing will vary.

Wet stack or waste vent looks fine, as long as it is back caulked at the bottom of the flashing. Where it is cut was made for the projection. The noeprine flashing is OK to.
If the shingles are done right and cut tight to the vent stack them BOBS your uncle mate.

I would like to see a cap on the vent. Stops rodents, tennis balls tree branchs and debris from entering the stack.
Still have to get use to ABS, plumbing or wet stack protrusions.

Actually Keven they are all wrong.
Sorry.
No exposed nail-head.
There is no need for fasteners to be exposed on a shingle roof.
NONE.

I am going to recant my #18 post.
Dam I have to take my time and look and listen. Sorry all.

The exposure is to great. The placement of the plumbing flange vent flashing within the shingles field are leaving a deficiency in protecting the attic.
It is deficient. I would call it out and hard.
That is a leak waiting to happen.

This one is soft rubber.
I do not agree with four nails on the bottom exposed.
All the shingles were sealed around the boot and down the boot.
I always tell my clients to check the attachments every year if possible.
The hard plastic design is a different story.
The aluminum should be different also.

Roofing nails will lift. The expansion and contraction of the deck itself will open and close the entryway made by the roofing nail of fastener.
The temperature or atmospheric conditions ( RH ) makes material expand and contract. Plastic, galvanized, neopene all have a different rate of expansion contraction during times of temperature.exposed Fasteners are still in direct violation roofing code.
No time to look.

That is the best you will find here. I dont like it but that is what it is.
The good example comes from a home 4 years old. What are you going to do.

Marcel,

I have that book also. It is a super reference. Usually can get one free in Vero Beach, FL by inquiring to a local CT distributor.
