Default To flash or not to flash?

This is the top peak of a shed roof, I think that the flashing should be on top od the shingles. Any comments.

It works better leaving the metal exposed. If they would have ran a ridge cap sideways with a 1 inch overhang on the top edge, it would have been better and still covered the metal.
