If this has been discussed, I'm sorry. I've looked but did not find it. Now be gentle.......If there is NO water heater or furnace or any type of ignition source in the garage, is a fire rated door still required.?

Yes. Still required. A car's catalytic converter gets extremely hot. As does the exhaust on a lawnmower or weed wacker or the sparks from a grinder.
The door, as well as the threshold and the weatherstripping also keep fumes out of the home. I know a door in Canada is not fire rated unless it has a label ( for insurance reasons)
same door less a label 150.00 less back 15 years ago. I wondering if they changed this up there anyone Know?
