Default Ice dam heater?

What is this at the roof edge please. Forgot the pic today and went back in the dark.

Ya got me stumped...but it does appear to be a heater cord.

Were you able to follow the cable?

Looks like a water proof thermostat to turn on heater when Temp gets below freezing.
I have not seen this type but have many others.

I would think any control unit would be easily accessible. I'm leaning toward some type of sensing device. No IR image Erol? Please update us when you go back for the third time.

Appears to be a measuring device to measure rain fall for lawn sprinkler system. I have often seen similar devices mounted on the gutter.

I have a similar device on my gutter to turn off the lawn sprinklers when it is raining....jim

Not when the ground is covered with bushes and it's raining all day.
