Default new vinyl siding installation

I just had a contractor install vinyl siding. The kid who actually did all the work hammered in tiny nails every couple of feet up through the locks. The nails are upside down, going from the lower course into the next higher course. Is this normal? Will water wick up through the nail hole and invite moisture behind the siding?
Thanks
