When I built our deck at our last home (in Virginia), it was situated over a basement exit door. The Virginia code required a certain clearance/height for the deck for the area over the door (I believe it was 8').
I'm now in North Carolina, and looking to have a deck built at our new house. Does anyone know if the NC Building code has any similar statutes which require certain clearance and, if so, what is the statute/reg # and specified clearance? What about other states? Is this fairly standard? |
