I inspected a roof yesterday that had staples holding the shingles to the deck board. Some of the staples were poping up. When I checked for the underlayment, the shingles almost came up. My question is, Are staples allowed as a shingle attachment? I read the installation instructions for this type of shingle(asphalt) and it called for nails 1" to the tab, and 4 nails per shingle. Is this a improper installation and would it void any warranties? thank you

I think you answered your own question. I they are not installed to the manufacturers instructions, it is wrong. |

Was it a Mobile Homes/ Manufactured Housing? If it was they still use staples to install shingles.
