Found a List of Fasteners and Manufactures that are approved for use in deck building using Pressure Treated Lumber.
I thought it might be usefull to some so as to recognize a few in Inspections in the future. Some may already have this. http://www.osmose.com/acrobat/NaturewoodFastenerInfoSheet.pdf My preference in Deck Building is Manufactured by GRK http://www.grkfasteners.com/en/RSS_1_2_information.htm Marcel ![]() LEED Green Associates InachiAwardsPortal: Inachi US Member of the Year Award 2009 |

I just hired a contractor to build a deck for my pool. If I went with composite decking (which I'm not) the stainless steel fasteners would add an extra $500 to the cost.

GRK fasteners are about $8.75 per lb. These hear are in the $5.00+ range and good for PT. http://www.ahturf.com/catalog/catalo..._category=5332 Marcel LEED Green Associates InachiAwardsPortal: Inachi US Member of the Year Award 2009 |

It's 500 s.f. We got quotes from $6k-$12k. The boss wants cedar. I like the look of cedar. She's paying for the work and I have been hired to be the Assistant General Superintendent.

You might want to consider useing concealed fasteners like down the line of these; http://www.dec-klip.com/details.htm Don't know the price, but can't be anymore than stainless screws. Marcel LEED Green Associates InachiAwardsPortal: Inachi US Member of the Year Award 2009 |

We had a 2nd storey 840 sq. ft. plus cedar deck. To keep the look of cedar takes maintenance...galore...enjoy! Linus you might want to go with treated wood, try this. It's good stuff, the cedar tone looks great.
