Some roof vents do not have a seperate top or bottom side (because both sides are designed the same, so that there is extra attachment support for the vent cap from blowing off) so for me to say that it is installed wrong I would have to see the top side of this vent.

We have noticed in MI that there is normally an arrow etched in the vent ofor the installer. You know, so he can tell which way is up?

These pictures are consistent with many types of roof vents (including metal vents) that I have used over the years, and don't leave much room for interpretation.

I agree with you Charles. The vents are installed upside down.

This vent is install backwards$$ and improperly installed.
Report should read of the like; Noticed that the installation of the attic vent is improperly installed and would reccommend that a Contractor further evaluate the installation. Marcel |

I don't think reporting the vents are in wrong is going to break any deals, nor will it likely affect the functionality.
Personally speaking I don't even think I would call it out. Raymond Wand Alton, ON |

Hi. Jay, hope you are fine. The problem with this picture on the vent is the fact that the slope side should have been on the upwards side which would not really make to much diffierence on the functionallity, but what I noticed is the fact that the installation lip edge is pushing up the roofing meaning that it was not nailed properly to the roof sheathing, and unless the top part of this unit is removeable on installation, it was not nailed in properly including the roofing, that is why the roofing is up as it is. Strong winds with rains or snow, this would leak. And rest assurred, that they did not provided backup, like Vycor flashing around the perimeter. That would be to much work to make it right. Hope this helps. Marcel |

Marcel. i'm fine and hope you and yours are too. your all too right about "too much like work". i always wonder how people can find enough time to do suff twice but never enough time to do it right? 'work smarter not harder'' i always say.
