Default Sealed OSB?

Buyer asked if the bare OSB under Vinyl siding may have been "sealed" with a water resistive barrier?

I wonder who gave them that idea?

I don't think a moisture barrier salesperson gave them the idea... I do think however a siding salesperson or installer might have.

By the way, the OSB clear coat is only good as a moisture barrier if it is an acrylic-epoxy-alklyd-elastameric-polymer hybrid coating.

AND... you have to remove the siding every 3 years to re-seal all the OSB joints and re-coat the OSB.

BUT.. here's the problem, they don't make the coating anymore for future re-coats.. ugh.
