I can't tell you how funny that is to me, a few years ago some friends of mine had a tree limb come down in an ice storm, there was no way to patch the roof until spring so I did exactly the same thing, but WITH a hose going from the cooler drain down into a soffit vent.

That "repair" lasted for 3 months until spring and proper repairs
