Dare I say that my wise ol' grandmother had a sink like that? She hated wasting plain ol' sink water in the South Texas desert. She also had buckets at the bathtubs and showers so that she could collect the cold water that came out before the hot water arrived. She watered all her plants with all that water, and I must admit that her plants were the envy of the neighborhood. While I don't have sinks like that, I do have buckets in the bathrooms to save water for the plants. San Diego also qualifies as a desert environment with a mere 10.77 inches of annual rain—3.85 inches so far this year, and the rainy season is over; can you say drought in its second year?
