Default Fire wall breach?

I have a question. Inspected a 1953 home and between the garage and the family room was a wall of Flintkote panels,(asbestos). Is this an adequate firewall? The material is 1/2" thick, and painted. Do I recommend covering it with drywall anyway since it will probably get damaged in the garage and become friable?

Thanks, Steve

Hi to all,

Steve, I would let your clients know that there is a potential for Asbestos containing materails in the building, but going one inch beyond that is outside of your responsabilities and your licensing (asbestos abatement is very highly regulated) advise them to contact a state licensed abatement contractor for advise as to any potential hazards.

Regards

Gerry
