In a brick veneer wall with a standard 1" drainage space (rainscreen), it shouldn't. If the masons don't properly clean and prepare to catch excess mortar from the rear side of the brick, the bottom of the space fills with mortar and the drainage function mighjt be impaired. In this case, mortar would be against the exterior TYVEK most likely impairing its water shedding properties and possibly holding moisture against it. With certain conditions, the moisture may then diffuse inwards into the sheathing.

But the day I found this I tried to do the right thing and called a city inspector that I have on SPEED dial. He would not even come out and look at it let alone stop it!

Hi. Carl;

Has anyone gained any ground on this problem?

It is kind of sad when something like that has to happen and not get the support from the people that should be enforceing it to begin with.

Marcel,

The more I go to their CE classes the more they do not want me there!

They are in DENIAL!

I will give credit to 1 county guy he has owned up to some of the problems and is trying to make changes.

And when he sees me in a class he says to give them HELL!

If your presence has made contact with one person, then I would say you have struct gold.

Usually in this World, everything seems to go out and multiply until they can't afford it anymore.

Well done.
