Default Gas Stove

Hi all,

Condo conversion in 2000. Center island has a 4 gas burner stove top with no venting. The closest object are ceiling lights which are hanging from the ceiling and 6 feet away. No downdraft or updraft. Ceilings are 14' high and area is one big loft. Is this okay? I have looked in the code book but cannot find anything. I this a safety issue?

Thanks in advance.

Ventilation fans are not required over stoves, but I do call them out as a recommended installation if I find them missing.

For the health of your clients, you may want to send them to some websites dealing with athsma and the like with unvented gas appliances:
