Default Insulation Type?

Can anyone help with the identification of this type of insulation? Home was built in '74 and is located in southeast. Thanks.

Mark

Mark,
Help us out here... did you touch it? What texture did it have? Can you describe what it felt like?

Looks like blown cellulose to me. I hate inspecting an attic with that stuff. Kicks up a cloud and makes a big mess.
