Default How Not to Vent Dryer Exhaust

Attic area and fan motor coated with highly flammable dryer lint. Sellers are very fortunate that a fire never started. Maybe the moisture from the bathroom exhaust dampened the lint!

What's the purpose of the insulation? They don't want the lint to get cold?

They were probably trying to keep it from condensing and dripping on the ceiling.
That's a lot of work to go through to do something wrong!

I once had a gas dryer vent that was run into the bathroom exhaust and then out the sidewall. I jokingly told the buyers that if they ran the bathroom fan while they ran the dryer, they PROBABLY wouldn't get CO poisoning...

“Of liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its extent, it is unobstructed action according to our will. But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual.” - Thomas Jefferson
