Default Rail spacing in older homes greater than 4 inches ...Question

In pointing this fact out....Is it just a recommended upgrade as
a possible safety hazard?

I simply expalin that a childs head can go through spacings that are too large and they seem to get it at that point.

I recommend the address the spacing issue to remove the hazard.

What they do with the info is their business.

Unless you are an AHJ, everything you call out in a report is a "recommended upgrade".

James:

I like according to standards today. I have never had a problem with people understanding this. If they want to know the code I point them to the AHJ.
