reason for airgap/high loop

The inspection today had a perfect example of the need for air gap/ high loop at the dishwasher.

I call it out every inspection.
Bacterial infection is nothing to sneeze at.

That dishwasher and sink looked like this house I moved into down here last January. Believe it or not a plumber came in to inspect and allegedly fix a leak under the sink as well, leaving after a quick snake-out and some draino type stuff and a gasket.

I fixed the leak and dishwasher drain myself a couple days later.......
