Default 210.8(B)(4)- 2005 NEC ( Public Receptacles )

Section 210.8(B)(4), New
  • Section 210.8 addresses requirements for GFCI protection of Persons. This change occurred in first-level subdivision (B), which addresses locations other than dwelling units.
  • List item (4) has been added to include GFCI requirements for outdoor, public spaces.
  • This new requirement will mandate all 125-volt, 15- and 20-amp receptacle outlets outdoors, in public spaces be GFCI protected.
  • This description describes an outdoor public space as any space that is for use by, or is accessible to, the public.
Just some educational reminders, Those who do commerical inspections remember that if observing the 2005 NEC on your inspection for newer commerical construction that the outside receptacles that are accessible to the public MUST be on GFCI now....not so in the past.

Just something to remember.........Be Safe....Happy Holidays!
