Default Aluminum egc - copper conductor

Never saw this before - several cables in this panel had aluminum egcs and copper conductors. The egc was in the cable, not run as an after thought. I traced the wires three times to make sure I was seeing it right.

Pretty common in some of the older cloth NMC. Was this early to mid 60's construction?

1951. I've done hundreds of houses like this one. The building boom here on Long Island was in the 50's and 60's, so the vast majority of homes I've inspected were from that era, but never saw this before. Thanks for the reply Jeff.

It almost looks like the bonding strip in AC cable.

Yeah - it was a smaller gauge than the conductors.
