Any information on the rules related to the installation of an attic light would be appreciated.
I.E. Fire Codes Location Wattage Switch area served (sq feet) NEC / IRC (other than IRC E3803.4) Etc. "Arrogance and Ignorance are not mutually exclusive" Last edited by phughes; 3/15/08 at 11:31 AM.. |

Please Note:

The only requirements are that if that attic is used for storage or the has equipment installed in it that needs servicing, a switch controlled light needs installed at or near the normal entrance. This could be a wall switch or a pull string on the fixture. If there will be employees of a company working on the A/C, the minimum lighting levels are 10 footcandles.
