Default Braided Ground wire in the service panel

Can the ground wire be braided or does it have to be solid?
Saw my first braided wire today grounding to a rod & plumbing pipes.

Do you mean braided wire or stranded wire? For standard building wire the wire is usually called stranded. Braided wire is used for other applications such as lightning protection systems. Stranded conductors are permitted for Grounding Electrode Conductors and bonding jumpers. For raceway installation the largest conductor permitted to be solid is #10.

Thanks,
I'm sure it was stranded.
