Came accross a Cutler Hammer panel today with a 100 AMP service. The "main breaker" appears to be a double pole breaker...however there is no "link" between the two switches??
Anybody ever see this before? I assume it is a defect as you would not want for them to move independently of one another? And I about had a heart attack when the agent decided to touch the breaker while I took a photo...what an idiot!

It most likely that the CB has an internal trip mechanism. A single pole 100 amp CB of that style would be extremely rare if they're even made at all. It still should have the handle tie on it however.
