I found him and took him to dinner. I tried to learn him somethin' about how electricity follows the path of least resistance to earth but he was havin' none of it.

I can talk electrical for days as you all know. I hope nick will have me back for more episodes on many pressing electrical issues. Commercial electrical would make for another great episode...its all up to Nick and Ben as I love coming to colorado.

I took him to a nice Italian (of course) restaurant last night, but I forgot that the menu was written in Italian. We did spaghetti & meatballs. Somehow the waiter found an American beer for Paul. No Coors even though we were a couple miles from the Coors Brewery.

According to SOP, "an inspector shall inspect and determine the rating of the service."

Not quite sure how to do that part of the SOP?

No worries.... Paul tells us how... in his upcoming training video on NACHI.TV.

PLease include explanation on fuse panels and understanding sizing of them.

Also how to determine installing a GFCI at the beginning of an ungrounded 2 prong outlet circuit. Did I ask that right? Not sure.

This video was not the "Everything" about electrical type video. It covered general things to look for in electrical panels and so on. Their is just not enough time to shoot all the things people want....we are hopefully going to do additional video's on other aspects of the electrical inspection.

The video we did over the past two days was mainly focused on the electrical panels , sizing a service and noticing defects within a panel wired with defects and a few additional tips.

What we are going to do on many other issues is starting a "Ask" type article base so that you can ask about different topics and i will write an article on it and nick will publish it.....that way we can cover alot of questions people have directly wanted asked. however, I think if people are weak on panel defects, not sure how to size a panel, how to properly look into a panel and want to understand some concepts of grounding and bonding of panel enclosures then this video will help them.

We did not have a fuse panel to do this. Actually if you apply the same basic understandings then it will be easy to do this. if you can determine the size of the service conductors, the size of the main fuses if their, rating of the panel enclosure and looking for the weakest link will help you determine the size and in the event you can't still determine you need to report it as such. As for GFCI receptacles, if you install a GFCI or GFI at the first receptacle it will protect all receptacles downstream. If you replace two prong receptacles with 3 prongs and the GFCI is upstream then all you need to do is label each receptacle as "No ground present" and "GFCI Protected", these labels usually come with new GFCI receptacles.

In the electrical inspection training video, we'll be incorporating a NEW and AMAZING technology.
It is already being used inside the new online course to become an InterNACHI Certified Stucco and EIFS Inspector.
