Default Extention cords

Here is a pic of yesterday inspection. There are about 6, 4 foot lights that are using extention cords. I would think you would want them hard wired?

This is what I often say. "One or more extension cords was used as permanent wiring. Service to replace it with permanent wiring is recommended."

I dont know of anywhere in the code where it states that extension cords can be used for permanent wiring. In fact, i think most cords, if not all, state that they cannot be used for permanent wiring. I tell my clients that these cords are not approved for this purpose and that permanent wiring NEEDS to be installed by a licensed electrician becase if the inherent fire hazard.
