Question Hot Water
Nothing to do with inspecting but for my own info. What is the best tool and way to check the heating elements on an electric hot water tank?

a volt ohm meter, with amp clamp is the only tool I use for that. Specifically, the Fluke T5-600, which is my every day meter.

Are you also interested in a water heater troubleshooting procedure?

Looking for a little more detail and the troubleshooting procedure may be helpful.


Now from the label the elements are rated as 4500 watts top and 3800 bottom.
