Nothing to do with inspecting but for my own info. What is the best tool and way to check the heating elements on an electric hot water tank?

a volt ohm meter, with amp clamp is the only tool I use for that. Specifically, the Fluke T5-600, which is my every day meter.
Are you also interested in a water heater troubleshooting procedure? |

Looking for a little more detail and the troubleshooting procedure may be helpful.
Now from the label the elements are rated as 4500 watts top and 3800 bottom. |
