who laughed at the HI industry...heck man I am part of that industry. Besides man I am only laughing at you..thehehehe...

Anyway...I beg to ask you where the biggest FIRE took place back some time ago...but I digress...

Code is the basis for a foundational learning and what you take away from that only enhances your ability to apply everyday rulings. Again, you can't change an industry by your thinking alone. A industry can only be changed as a group effort and on this issue I think you lack the "GROUP" effort...

I am guessing you missed my posts over the past 4 years HELPING the industry...I will assume you were sleeping the whole time...lol...don't question my loyalty to the HI industry as we all know facts on that topic....but then again I know you were only in jest....

I didn't realize we're citing NEC in reports. A reccomendation for GFCI protection is just that. I've seen receptacles within 12" of a tub before. Common sense doesn't always prevail.

I have changed my view on this and would not write up an outlet that is not "serving the countertop". Indeed, an outlet extending into a family room on the countertop circuit would be a code violation.

So how many of you are writing up halogen puck light wiring with 110 v cords running through walls and cabinets?

One reason I changed my view, in addition to wisdom gained by experience is this:

Last year I had an ICC electrical instructor who flatly stated that code officials who require a wall outlet outside the kitchen, not serving the countertop, to be GFCI protected are "ignorant".
