Richard
I know everyone reports in their own way. I am not here to change your mind or anyone elses. Like I could anyway. I am just explaining what and why I would do it.

Bob, after reading the chart, the wet bar does not apply here.

We can assume that by including a provision for wet bar, that the wet bar is not in the kitchen. IMO the wet bar, listed in the chart, is as I described, earlier.

That counter is at least 12 inch and a perfect spot for a small TV to look at from in that kitchen area.

They would plug it in there to avoid having the cord exess, drag on the counter and be in the way.

I used to put them there all the time for customers.

I did look again and my father-in-law has that same setup in the kitchen/dining area. He uses that outlet for a stereo.

Bob, we can't protect people from themselves.

BTW I still contend that is a 6-8in cap.

Based on what Bob?

I don't state code to my clients but that doesn't mean I don't know it.

By your scenario we should all be recommending that all outlets be changed to GFCIs to prevent stupidity from causing harm.

Funny you should bring that up since in the future all outlets WILL have to be AFCI or GFCI protected

I guess you are still mad that we do not see porcelain sockets with metal pull chains everywhere.

An AFCI is not the same as a GFCI.

They are for entirely different hazards.
