When I removed the dead front, on a main panel

No, as long as there were no voids in the cover it is ok.

you might want to be more concerned about all those ground wires under one screw

If the "all those ground wires" are in fact a single multiple strand grounding conductor, possible the EGC, than its OK. Hard to tell from the photo.
