The house was empty so the only real load was the heat pump running. The temp was not that significant then but once someone moved in I could only imagine. Either way it needs fixin!

Oddly enough this is the first time I have found a burnt wire that was actually hot.

I either find them burnt and there is no temp difference, or I find them hot but no signs of schorched sheathing.

Go figure. Its not that I found the burnt wire but the fact that the image confirms that it is an active issue.

This panel was at least 30 years old. A lot can happen in 30 years.

That's right, so if it happened 30 years ago when new, has it now stood the test of time, therefore no more worries???
