pdacey is a non-member guest and is in no way affiliated with InterNACHI or its members.
That could be for the homeowner to connect a generator to the system if the main power goes out. They would turn off the main breaker and then back feed from the generator through that outlet. I've seen it a few times.
I'm not saying that is the ideal location for the device, but that is probably their reason for putting it there. |

This still requires a suicide cord, not a good thing to be handling when you have other problems that may be distracting you.
More people get killed after hurricanes than during the storm and generators are a major cause. |
