There is no technical reason to have a GFCI receptacle inserted into a circuit already protected by a GFCI device. Have seen this quite a bit.

The homeowner gets a little bit of information -that all bathroom vanity recepts must be protected and then installs a GFCI in each wash/bathroom although they are already protected by the first GFCI recept in the series or back at the panel by a GFCI breaker.

Leave this stuff to those that know.
