I encourage everyone to read Mark’s article and bring questions forward if the rationale is not clear. This explains that while an equipment grounding conductor is important to electrical safety so are GFCI’s and each has a specific place in electrical safety. Our manufacturers also play an important role as well because some large appliances require an equipment ground and lack of this EGC in the circuit can be a problem.

Anyway…glad Jim provided it(he’s a gentleman and a scholar) and everyone should read it.
