Aloha,
I did an inspection today and I found an issue that I called out but would like to know what others think. The 50 amp range breaker had two 10 ga wires at each pole for a total of 4. Besides the obvious double tap, if these wires were soldered together would it be acceptable? I could not determine where or how the business ends terminated. Any thoughts/comments welcome. My thanks in advance. Kent Fonoimoana TRIsland Home Inspections, LLC Laie, Hawaii "For your Peace in Paradise" http://www.TRIsland.com |

I have no idea where the #10s are going but you can not have a 50 amp breaker giving protection to a #10 wire. Roy Cooke Need help on inspection call my cell 613-827-2011 I like email Roycooke@hotmail.com Never wrestle with a pig (however titled) as you just get dirty and the pig has all the fun. |

I have seen this before. It is the result of a kitchen remodel where there was a 30 amp cooktop and a 30 amp wall oven. The remodel replaced them both with a free standing range. The clever remodelers "re wired" for a 50 amp circuit.
