Same way I got April 2007 for the air handler.
I believe the first two digits are weeks, not months. 0407 = January 2007 1607 = April 2007

William has the same thing except that I think he has a typo for the compressor since he has both of them in his answer as the "16th week of 2007."

Air Handler Ser# 1607A83533 MDL F4ANF042 OK still have questions I get the weeks and year positions. But the BTU issue is still baffling for the compressor air handler made sense 042 = 3.5 tons compressor 300= 3 tons? Someone please explain how to "ton a unit" Thanks again. Curt |

Air Handler Ser# 1607A83533 MDL F4ANF042 MORE baffled than ever....see my first post. What is the tonage of the compressor? I have 3 tons now 2 1/2 tons ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I will figure this out on my own and so far I found enough from the ebward.com site to understand it better. The above answers are appreciated but also tell me that I should have read up on this myself. Answers range from 2 1/2 tons to 3 1/2 tons I told my client 3 and 3 1/2 and I will fix that. the 42 in the middle is for 42,000 BTUS so its 3 1/2 tons both units are 3 1/2 tons Thanks Curt Last edited by cgoyette; 9/3/07 at 3:34 PM.. |

Sometimes you get variable speed air handlers that can be used for different capacity systems, so always go by the condenser. Usually capacity on the nameplate also.
