I found`a list of date of manufacture for furnaces and water heaters that went by the serial number on here at one time, and had it saved to my computer, but lo and behold after computer problems it was gone. Can anyone direct me to it or have a copy saved, I could sure use it again. Thanks for any help provided.

FURNACE AGE CHART
Amana: For tonnage refer to FLA & RLA. For age use the serial number and the "B-L-AC- K-H-O-R-S-E" code wherein S=1969, E=70, B=71, L=72. (Of course, now that they've been bought by Goodman, who knows what'll happen.) B = 71, 81, 91, 01 L = 72, 82, 92, 02 A = 73, 83, 93, 03 C = 74, 84, 94, 04 K = 75, 85, 95, 05 H = 76, 86, 96, 06 O = 77, 87, 97, 07 R = 78, 88, 98, 08 S = 79, 89, 99, 09 E = 80, 90, 00, 10 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Airquest: (International Comfort Products) A letter followed by a 9-digit number. The second and third letter represent the year, the fourth and fifth numbers represent the week. There may be a date stamp to the right of the serial number. Sample Serial Number: R883512345 Date of Mfg: 09/88 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arco-aire: (Snyder General): A letter followed by a 9-digit number. The second and third letter represent the year, the fourth and fifth numbers represent the week. There may be a date stamp to the right of the serial number. Sample Serial Number: R883512345 Date of Mfg: 09/88 (35th week of 1988 September) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bard: 1962 to March 1980 Sample Number 123456 A D 1st six digits are the Unit Identity Number. In this example they are represented by the numbers 123456. 7th digit is the month of Manufacture. (The letter A in the Sample represents January). A = January B = February C = March D = April E = May F = June G = July H = August Letter I was not used. J = September K = October L = November M = December 8th digit is the year of Manufacture. (The letter D in the Sample represents 1964). 1962 = B 1963 = C 1964 = D 1965 = E 1966 = F 1967 = G 1968 = H Letter I was not used. 1969 = J 1970 = K 1971 = L 1972 = M 1973 = N 1974 = O 1975 = P Letter Q was not used. 1976 = R 1977 = S 1978 = T 1979 = U 1980 = V Bard April & May 1980 Sample number 123 D A 123456 1st three digits are the Compressor Part Number. 4th digit is the month of Manufacture. In this sample D represents April. D = April F = May 5th digit is the year of Manufacture. In this sample A represents 1980. 1980 = A This serial number style was only used during the months of April & May 1980. 6th thru 11th digits represent the Unit Identity Number. Bard June 1980 to Current Sample number 123 H80 1234567 02 1st three digits = Compressor Part # 4th digit = Month A = January B = February C = March D = April E was not used F = May G was not used H = June I was not used J = July K = August L = September M = October N = November O was not used P = December 5th & 6th digits = Year 80 = 1980 81 = 1981 82 = 1982 Right on thru. The year 2000 started the numerical numbering from 00. 00 = 2000 01 = 2001 02 = 2002 right on thru to current date. 7th thru 13th digits = Unit Identity # 14th & 15th digits = Factory Code (01=OH; 02=GA) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bryant: From 1964 to 1979 use the first two numbers of the serial number followed by a Date code 1964 = R 1965 = S 1966 = T 1967 = U 1968 = V 1969 = W 1970 = X 1971 = Y 1972 = A 1973 = B 1974 = C 1975 = D 1976 = E 1977 = F 1978 = G 1979 = D Example: 27Rxxxxxx = 27th week of 1964 After Bryant became Bryant, Day-Night, Payne the system changed. In the new system the first and second digits of the serial number are the week and the last two are the year. (Applies to all BDP). Example: 2799xxxxxx = 27th week of 1999. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Carrier, Bryant, Payne, Day & Night: Recently (last 20 years or so) the first four numbers in the serial number represent the week and year. Previously, it was a series of letters and single digits as explained below. Through 1969, the first digit of the serial number indicates the year of manufacture. Example: 3xxxxxx = 1963, 4xxxxxx = 1964, etc. 1970 and later, a letter followed by a number indicates the month and year of manufacture. Example: A1 = January 1971, B1 = February 1971, C4 = March 1974 etc. A = Jan B = Feb C = Mar D = Apr E = May F = Jun G = Jul H = Aug J = Sep K = Oct L = Nov M = Dec ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chrysler Air Temp: Age is shown by the first digit of the serial number and corresponds to the last number of the year of manufacturer. Example 0C893745 = 1970. 1 = 1971, 2 = 1972, etc. Use common sense and visual observation to distinguish decades from one another. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Climatrol: Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Climate Master: Serial number indicates age from 1972 on -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coleman: Serial numbers prior to April 1992=1st two numbers are month, then year, then series. After April 1992, 1st two numbers are year, then month, then series. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Comfortmaker(International Comfort): A letter followed by a 9-digit number. The second and third letter represent the year, the fourth and fifth numbers represent the week. There may be a date stamp to the right of the serial number. Sample Serial Number: R883512345 Date of Mfg: 09/88 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day-Night: (Prior to BDP in 1979) Age coded into the serial number. First letter is the month followed by the second letter which is the year. A = 1970, B = 1971, Etc. Example: AAxxxxxx = January 1970, BExxxxxx = May 1971. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ducane: uses two different formats on serial numbers. All of our serial numbers are ten characters. The most common format is all ten characters are numeric. In this format the last 4 numbers indicate the year and the week of the year. An example is your serial number 4140720320 where the 03 is 2003 and the 20 is the 20th week of the year (2002). The more recent format is ten character and the format is the first 4 characters are numeric, the fifth character is alpha, and the last 5 characters are numeric. The year code is determined from the 3rd and 4th characters that would be the last 2 digits of the calendar year (93=1993 and 06=2006). The fifth character which is alpha represents the month with A=January and M=December and but we do not use the letter I. This is an example of second serial number format, 4603M12345, the 03 is 2003 and the M is December. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedders: Through 1977, the last two letters of the serial number show the month/year of manufacture, beginning with September 1964. Example: xxxxAA = Sept 66, xxxxBC = Oct 68.(I is not used) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- First Company Service Parts: One of 4 divisions of First Operations. They supply OEM equipment to all of the major HVAC manufacturers. They are located in Dallas, Tx at 214-388-5751. Harold Hammer at Tech Support (ext#5) will answer your questions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- General Electric: Age is the last 3 digits of the serial number. First digit being the year and the second and third digits being the month. Example xxxxx241 = 41st week of 1982, 92, 02 etc., xxxxx533 = 33rd week of 1985, 95, 05 etc.. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Goodman: First two digits of the serial number are the year. Second two are the month. Btu rating is model number ie; GMP075-3 (75,000 bonnet input) Compressor is same :serial # 9709088872 (yr1997 wk 09) Tonnage is model # CK361C The first two numbers after the CK (letters) divided by 12 is tons. ie: 36 div by 12= 3 tons. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Heil: A letter followed by a 9-digit number. The second and third letter represent the year, the fourth and fifth numbers represent the week. There may be a date stamp to the right of the serial number. Sample Serial Number: R883512345 Date of Mfg: 09/88 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ICP: (International Comfort Products) A letter followed by a 9-digit number. The second and third letter represent the year, the fourth and fifth numbers represent the week. There may be a date stamp to the right of the serial number. Sample Serial Number: R883512345 Date of Mfg: 09/88 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keeprite: A letter followed by a 9-digit number. The second and third letter represent the year, the fourth and fifth numbers represent the week. There may be a date stamp to the right of the serial number. Sample Serial Number: R883512345 Date of Mfg: 09/88 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kenmore: A letter followed by a 9-digit number. The second and third letter represent the year, the fourth and fifth numbers represent the week. There may be a date stamp to the right of the serial number. Sample Serial Number: R883512345 Date of Mfg: 09/88 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lennox: Before 1974 the first 2 digits indicated the year and the next digit the month. Example: 732xxx = February 1973. Most of them actually have a separate sticker somewhere that has the year printed on it. Newer ones (After 1973) are first two equals manufacturing plant #, 2nd two are year and letter in fifth slot is month (A thru M minus I). So 5898G 07568 would be Plant # 58, Year of MFR would be 98 and month would be July. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Peerless: Prior to 1984 there was not a date code included as part of the serial number. Starting in 1984, there was a four digit date code following the serial number that was month and year. Example JO-12345-1084, this unit was built in October of 1984. Starting in the year 2000, same idea only it was a six digit date code following the serial number that is year and month. Example 1234567-200105, this would have been build in May of 2001. Anything without the addition to the serial number would have been made before 1984 and would require contact with the factory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rheem/Ruud: Before 1974 the first 2 digits indicated the year and the next digit the month. Example: 732xxx = February 1973. Since then, the age is coded into the last four digits of the serial number by week andyear. Therefore xxxx2302 = 23rd week of 2002. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rinnai: The manufacturing date code is the first four digits of the serial number, written as YYMM, and is located at the bottom of the rating plate. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tappan: Age is the last 3 characters (digits and letter) of the serial number for the year and month of manufacturer. Example: xxxxx85C = March 1985. (I not used) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tempstar: (Two versions heard) 1. A letter followed by a 9-digit number. The second and third letter represent the year, the fourth and fifth numbers represent the week. There may be a date stamp to the right of the serial number. Sample Serial Number: R883512345 Date of Mfg: 09/88 2. Letter month (except I) followed by a two-digit year -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trane: Keeps switching the code. Beginning in 1971, age is a number followed by a letter in the serial number. Example: 1C-xxxx = March 1971, etc.. 1980, 1981, 1982 the year is a letter in the 7th place. O = 80, T = 81, U = 82 Beginning 1983 a letter was used in the first position to designate the year followed by the week. W = 83, X = 84, Y = 85, S = 86, B = 87, C = 88, D = 89, E = 90, F = 91, G = 92, H = 93, J = 94, K = 95, L = 96, M = 97, N = 98, P = 99, R = 00, Z = 01. Example: B50632891 = Dec 87 (Beginning around 1987 the date of manufacturer is stamped on the ID plate most of the time.) Beginning in 2002 the first digit of the serial number is the year followed by the week. Example: 7165RHAIG equals the 16th week of 2007. (Date of manufacture is on the data plate most of the time, but not always) Beginning in 1987 they began using alpha codes in their serial numbers to determine year of manufacture. They began with the letter B and skipped a couple of letters during the years... The first letter of the serial number gives the year of manufacture: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whirlpool: Begins in 1970. The letter indicates the decade followed by the week. G = 1970's, H=1980's, J=1990's, K=2000's Example: H416XXXXX = 16th week of 1984 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- YORK: (Unitary Products since 1984) Note: they skip the letters I, O, Q, U, Z. Year of make indicated by 3rd letter in the serial number. Fraser, Johnston and Luxaire was purchased by York in 1980. 1971 - A 1972 - B 1973 - C 1974 - D 1975 - E 1976 - F 1977 - G 1978 - H 1979 - J 1980 - K 1981 - L 1982 M 1983 N 1984 P 1985 - R 1986 - S 1987 - T 1988 - V 1989 - W 1990 - X 1991 Y 1992 A 1993 - B 1994 - C 1995 D 1996 - E 1997 - F 1998 - G 1999 - H 2000 - J 2001 - K 2002 - L 2003 - M 2004 - N 2005 - P 2006 - R 2007 S --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weil-McLain: Please look on the outside jacket of the boiler for a CP Serial Number. It will have a bar code on it. Call (or email) Wiel McLain and they will tell you the date of manufacture. Phone: 219-879-6561 ask for Technical Services Updated: February 20, 2008 |

Water Heater Manufacture Dates From Serial Numbers American - The first two numbers are the year, and the second two numbers are the week. AO Smith - Can be confusing; digits may be comprised of letters & numbers. May be one, two, or no letters. If two letters first, next two numbers are year. If one letter first, followed by two numbers and another letter, next two numbers are year. If one letter first, next two numbers are year, providing no letter follows. If two numbers first, this is year. Bradford-White - They use a 20-year cycle. They skip the letters I, O, Q, R, U, V to make the full cycle. 1st Letter is the year. 2nd letter is the month. A=84, B=85, C=86, D=87, E=88, F=89, G=90, H=91, J=92, K=93, L= 4, M=95, N=96, P=97, S=98, T=99, W=00, X=01, Y=02, Z=03, A=04, B=05, C=06, D=07 Lochinvar - Same as Bradford-White. Rheem - The first two numbers are the month and the next two are the year. That number 9 should be a letter. Without that letter, I can't tell you the year. I can tell you it was manufactured in August, though.

Thanks for the response Russel, I looked at the picture I took of the MFG Tag, and it clearly indicates the numbers and letters I posted here...........but Gerry's post was close enough for the report, the client is going to request for a new furnace and AC unit to be installed prior to RE Transaction Closing.......
