In the middle of the serial number....see the F...followed by week then year. If that fails, look up in the upper right hand corner of the data tag...on Rheems, the date is usually spelled out...i.e. 07/2003

David just had a Rheem A/C guy look up all units and 03 is the date of manufacture for even the heater.

This is why I said 1999 on furnace.

Rheem/Ruud: Before 1974 the first 2 digits indicated the year and the next digit the
month. Example: 732xxx = February 1973.
Since then, the age is coded into the last four digits of the serial number by week and
year. Therefore xxxx2302 = 23rd week of 2002.

Rheem or Ruud
Capacity: Look for those elusive two digits in the model number (usually, but not always) divisible by 6 and divide by 12 to convert to tons.
Example: RPGC-037JA = 3 ton

Age: Four digits of serial number indicate date of manufacture where first two indicate the week and the third and fourth are the year. In the 1960s and early ‘70s this was the last four digits. More recently date of manufacture information is found closer to the middle of the serial number.
Example: xxxx1872 = 18th week of 1972

Here is something else I found about the AC units.

Rheem & Rudd Somewhere in the middle of the serial number will be a letter (typically F). The following four numbers are the week and year.
