This is what I have without going to get my Preston's, problem being, I see no letters in your Serial number. I'll check some more:

Luxaire
Note: they skip the letters I, O, Q, U, Z.
Year of make indicated by 3rd letter in the serial number.
1971 – A 1972 – B 1973 – C 1974 – D 1975 – E 1976 - F
1977 – G 1978 – H 1979 – J 1980 – K 1981 – L 1982 – M
1983 – N 1984 – P 1985 – R 1986 – S 1987 – T 1988 - V
1989 – W 1990 – X 1991 – Y 1992 – A 1993 – B 1994 - C
1995 – D 1996 – E 1997 – F 1998 – G 1999 – H 2000 - J
2001 – K 2002 – L 2003 – M 2004 – N 2005 – P 2006 - R

Mike, a mistake that I have made on occasion is copying down a product number or something else accidentally, instead of a model or serial number. May I suggest double checking the label to make sure you didn't do that same thing?

Not always. In fact, Luxaire can have all sorts of different varieties of serial number coding.

I do think there are some letters or numbers missing or misread in the serial number. Depending on what's missing/misread, I think it's a 1984 unit, or a 1994 unit, or a 1993 unit.

How's that for being definitive?

Mike,

Luxaire was formerly part of Westinghouse and is now part of York.

The serial number sequence (that you have listed) are not in my reference materials at all. Give them a call tomorrow and please post their information here, so we all can learn the code sequence.

I always check for an ANSI number. I was taught that you can come within 3 years of the mfg. date by the ANSI number.

After checking many ANSI dates, I find that the ANSI date on boilers and furnaces can have a window of 6-8 years apart.
