Default Age of Rheem Oil Funace

Hello Everyone, I inspected a Rheem oil furnace yesterday and
could not remember the serial codes on these units. The serial # is
A0172 3994 254. I think it's a 3(march) of 1999 unit, but did not want to
state it in case it's 3/1994?? Does anyone know there date code's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Hmmmmmmm. A 12-digit serial number for Rheem. Must have something to do with being an oil furnace. I don't have a lot of information on the oil burners because I never worked much with them.

If that letter A were the fifth digit, then I would say the 39th week of 1994. However, since it's the first digit, I believe it stands for January, so I think you have a January 2001 unit.

I'll happily stand corrected by some northern friends who have more experience with oil burners.
