Default Boiler in garage

Am I correct to say a boiler located in a garage should be mounted a minimum of 18" above the floor?

The boiler is in its "seperate" little room, however there is no door to seal it away from the garage.

Would it be acceptable to make an 18" sealed "barrier" at the door to correct this?

Thanks,

Yes, the burners need to be 18" above the floor.

I am not familiar with an 18" tall barrier such as you describe.

A fume sealed door would be acceptable but then don't forget about combustion air.

Thanks,
See above notes.

I have a home in FL with a gas water heater in the garage that is NOT elevated 18 inches above the finished floor. It was not required at the time the house was built. I do not know how old the home in question is, but something to keep in mind; What was the requirement at the time of construction?

Regardless, I would recommend it for enhanced safety.
