Is it OK for a LPG furnace to vent into a wood furnace's flue?

Jeff,
No, No, No... You must be playing "devils-advocate". In our part of the world, you never mix flue venting from the various fuels (ie:NG, LPG, Wood, OIL, etc.). |

Well lets take a look and see what the code says:
International Fuel Gas Code 501.7.2 Connection to factory-built fireplace flue. An appliance shall not be connected to a flue serving a factory-built fireplace unless the appliance is specifically listed for such installation. The connection shall be made in accordance with the appliance manufacturer's installation instructions. International Mechanical Code 801.10.2 Connection to factory-built fireplace flue. An appliance shall not be connected to a flue serving a factory-built fireplace unless the appliance is specifically listed for such installation. The connection shall be made in accorance with the appliance manufacturer's installation instructions. Is it OK for a LPG furnace to vent into a wood furnace's flue? Yes, if the furnace is designed for that type of installation and if it is in accordance to your county and state building codes. |

Jason, what counts the most in that particular situation is what Bruce stated in his last paragraph of his post.Always check the local codes being used if you are going to state code. Matt
