Default CSST

Can CSST pass through a wall and a deck rim joist? Should there be a drip leg on this garage overhead heat?

Yes, but, typically needs a sleeve.

Some areas require one and some don't. Check locally.

Regarding the 3rd pic, I believe there should be a dirt leg before the gas valve (unless that is not a gas valve I am looking at) and, is that pipe dope in the threads of the union? I was once warned that one should be ‘wary’ of the installation if there is pipe in the threads of a union.

Typically the threads of a union should not have any pipe dope or thread tape placed on them. This could cause interference with the sealing of the union.
