can't remember if it needs 1" or so clearance from insulation??

No clearance requirement from normal insulation, but I'd certainly keep it away from the kraft paper side of batts in interior walls...

yeah it was a dryer vent actually. sure. the 25 foot rule is famous down here. 45 degree take off 2.5 feet and 90 degree take off 5 feet. the run was about 20 total so no booster fan needed.
