Default Electric furnace breaker

Had a question come up about the breakers on the front of a electric furnace and I assume it was concerning the double tapping on the lugs as Most HI's are trained to home in on double tapped breakers.

All Electric furnaces are double tapped by the MFG each element one leg is fed directly from the breaker.

In this situation it is ok. It is a UL approved assembly.

I agree, if the connections are factory installed and not field installed then the usual building codes do not apply. Typically the schematic will delineate the field and factory portions of the wiring. This is very common in equipment.

Charley -

I had another local inspector ask me the same question this past week. It never occurred to me our inspectors would not know this.

Nor me I got a e-mail asking that question and that was why I posted it
