Default exposed AC coils

This 1995 Lennox unit has the coils exposed on the corners, the home owner thinks his dog urinating on the unit eroded the fins, but there is no evidence of the case being urinated on. Any thoughts on the problems that would be associated with these fins missing would be appreciated.

"The fins of the condensing coil have been damaged. Some decrease in efficiency may be expected, but we cannot determine the amount of decrease. There is a possibility the refrigerant tubing may also be damaged or leaking. Therefore, the coil's condition should be evaluated by an HVAC contractor."
