Can anyone tell me what the trip or melting temperature is for a Fire-O-Matic emergency oil shut-off valve would be as installed in a single family home and where is the proper location for the valve, at the tank or burner. I see them located in both locations. Fire-O-Matic says they should be installed at the burner.

manufacturer instructions are always the best to adhere to. Most codebooks site the manufacturer instructions first, then take the fallback stance of "or authority having jurisdiction".
I did see this website that gave a melting temperature, however they are not the manufacturer and this information could be incorrect. http://www.gov.ns.ca/enla/petroleum/components.asp |
