Gary I thought the bulge was an bulb also on my first look but no bulb there that cap from the top of the element connects to the nut that appears to be the external equalizer. to be honest I have never seen a valve that looked like this. I went as far as to open up the insulation no bulb. I don't have another photo sorry

Barry Bascially I don't pay much attention to window units as they are not considered as real property in a Okla real estate contract. I will operate them and note if they run or do not and if they are strictly cool or if cool and heat. I don't remove them from the case
